Air Dryers

Cycling vs. Non-Cycling Dryers
CompAir features a unique, patented heat exchanger located inside a dry non-toxic Cold Energy Block. This innovative design offers electrical energy

savings of 30 to 80% compared to traditional non-cycling refrigeration dryers. Because cycling dryers are able to adjust their capacity to match the actual compressed air load profile, they are able to provide dramatic savings in power consumption, when compared to non-cycling dryers, during times when the demand or ambient conditions result in a load less than design.

The graph shown illustrates the yearly power costs of 12oo cfm cycling and non-cycling dryers. The

cycling effect of the CTD1200 is shown on the bottom two lines. Cycling saves energy both in response to reduced compressed air flow rate (cfm) as well as to reduced compressed air inlet temperature.
The upper line represents the constant cost associated with a non-cycling dryer (which can only adjust to load variations by false loading of the evaporator using a hot gas bypass valve) that consumes full power regardless of load.

Installation
CTD dryers must be sited on level ground in an indoor frost-free location. Adequate ventilation and maintenance access must be provided. The dryer should normally be connected after the receiver with appropriate CompAir filter protection.
